Hong Kong: Territory-wide operation to promote public light bus safety

Police issued two summonses and 62 fixed penalty tickets to public light bus (PLB) drivers in a territory-wide operation against traffic offences involving PLBs yesterday (March 8).

The operations include high profile patrols and deployment of plainclothes officers to observe the driving manner of PLB drivers. Two summonses and 62 fixed penalty tickets were issued to PLB drivers for various traffic offences. Another ten summonses were issued to PLB passengers for not wearing seat-belts. A PLB driver was arrested for non-payment of court fines.

Police also detained five PLBs which were found not complying with the Road Traffic (Construction and Maintenance) Regulations detained for examination.

Police will continue to take various enforcement actions with a view to improving road safety.
