NEWS RELEASE Carrentals.co.uk – a True Car Hire Price Comparison

11 August 2008 – They say imitation is the best form of flattery, and Carrentals has plenty of imitators. Carrentals.co.uk is one of the few legitimate car rental price comparison websites on the internet today, offering a depth and breadth of car rental choices in terms of both vendors and rental locations.

A true travel price comparison website will offer customers a wide variety of options, with price comparisons on all of them. For example, they will show the price for a per day car rental, utilizing a variety of locations and lots of vendors. Travelsupermarket does not do this; instead, they focus predominantly on airport locations without offering comparison prices for renting in other areas. For example, a recent price comparison (as of August 4, 2008) showed Carrentals offering price comparisons on some 49 locations, while Travelsupermarket only featured 21. All 21 of Travelsupermarket’s locations were at airports – Luton, Stansted, City, Heathrow and Gatwick - while many of Carrentals’ sites covered the airports too, but also those in outlying areas where customers were likely to arrive by train or ferry. These areas included Vauxhall, West Hampstead, Wembley and Kensington.

A price comparison conducted on the same day also showed that out of ten of the most popular car rental locations, Carrentals came in with the lower price in over 84% of the search results. This price comparison took into account queries for both the cheapest rentals available and specific requests for such vehicles as compacts, intermediate and specific models. Locations used for the query included Sydney, Alicante, Johannesburg, Malaga, Heathrow, Faro, Geneva, Murcia, Dublin and Pisa.

Carrentals also makes inclusion on its website easy for the car rental companies by billing them on a “cost-per-acquisition” basis. This means that advertisers wishing to be included in Carrentals’ database need only pay when a new customer is obtained via the Carrentals.co.uk site. Travelsupermarket, on the other hand, uses the far more expensive “pay-per-click” method of billing their advertisers. In other words, the rental companies are charged a fee each time a customer merely clicks on their link on the Travelsupermarket’s website, regardless of whether that click results in a new customer or not. This can be very expensive for the car rental companies and usually prices the smaller operators out of Travelsupermarket’s site. This results in less competitive price quotes for Travelsupermarket’s customers since only the big car rental companies will be offered the chance to submit a quote.

Carrentals’ website is not only comprehensive, it is user-friendly as well. With one query users can compare quotes from up to 50 car rental companies at a variety of locations. As an added service to users, Carrentals offer over 6,000 useful links to tourist information websites, as well as over 2,700 pages of travel-related information on its website.
